This oven won’t get as hot as it’s supposed to. I had one repair guy out who says the thermostat is bad. I’m confident
I can handle installing a new one. But it’s a $200 part and I want to ensure that I’m not wasting that money. Anybody who can advise?

Does it get hot at all? If off 30 or so degrees there should be an adjustment screw. Pull off the knob. <- hehe, seriously, the screw is in the shaft under the knob.

leave it on overnight and see what happens

I replaced the thermostat in my stove. It is a gas stove, the part was $20 and it took me 20 minutes. YMMV as you seem to have a much more technologically advanced oven then I do.

Had an older oven that would not get up to temp. Had service replace thermostat. Worked great afterwards, better than my new high falutin oven.

It gets hot, but not consistently. If you set the knob to 500 degrees, on a good day, it might push 400. Set it to 400 and you get 300 or 325. But not consistently.

The stove is certainly fancy on the outside, but it’s decades old.

I may roll the dice on a new thermostat. But expensive.

Probably not much else it could be. Have you researched issues with that particular make and model?

That’s certainly an expensive enough oven to be worth fixing. I don’t really know how to diagnose it, but old ovens are so simple, I don’t know there is much else it could even be.

A little. I was hoping for Oppos with crystal balls.

Last new oven I bought was close to $3000... soooooo I’d fix it.

I don’t mind fixing it myself, it’s just that a $200 part is much.
